Summer is over!

Well... it's already pretty frosty here in the mornings when I go jogging and it's only September!
Brr!
I'm so used to the sweltering heat that I just feel so cold all the time now.

Anyway... just a very brief update.
I'm working on editing 4 songs and I plan to record 2 to upload this weekend.
Yay!

For Fruits Basket

Song Title: For Fruits Basket
Anime: Fruits Basket
Japanese Artist: Ritsuko Okazaki

Lyrics by Funimation
Lyrics by Christina/animerox (yt)/DirectorHippy (yt)

I was so happy when you smiled
Your smile breaks through the clouds of grey
Far from the sunny says that lie in sleep...
Waiting with patience for the spring
When the flowers will soon bloom again
Knowing there's more beyond the pain of today

Although the scars of yesterday remain

You can go on living as much as your heart believes...
You can't be born again although you can change
Let's stay together, always

(instrumental break)

You came to me when I was alone
All by myself again today
The rain just keeps coming down and washes away...
All of the pain we hold inside
We have to break free and come alive
No more holding back our love anymore

Even though times are hard and seem to go on
We'll move past that point in time to find our futures
Never again alone cause I'm finally home
Let's stay together, forevermore

(instrumental break)

Although the scars of yesterday remain
You can go on living as much as your heart believes
You can't be born again although you can change
Let's stay together, always

I wented outside!!

I've been indoors for years and years...
Today, my mum forced me to go out and 'get some sun'--- aside from the heat stroke and severe sunburn on my feet, I guess I feel good after having gone outside in some fresh air.
It was cloudy but I still got burned! wahhh! T__T

I took a few pictures, so I thought: why not share some photos of the outdoors?
Weee!
Let's see what I've got... *digs in old grandma purse*

And some photos (not from the beach) ... because black and white makes the beach look so gloomy!

Welcome to Canada, folks! haha

Autotune...

How do I feel about auto-tune?
Ehh... as a novelty, it's great but I feel like it's way too overused these days.
I can hardly hold a tune in a bucket but I'll publish songs with flat notes and squeaks and all the neat things my voice likes to do rather than hit the notes perfectly! haha
Is that so wrong?

I do like the GladOS effect that auto-tune can give a song, though!
But then again... who doesn't love GladOS?

Here is a treat!

Maybe I should do this more often with songs I record?
What do you think? Alternate autotune version? Y/N?
XD

Tabi no Tochuu (The Journey) Full English Lyrics

I'd been working on these lyrics for a long time... a long, long time actually... haha
Upon making the decision to add the full song to a future free single, I knew that I would need a full set of lyrics. As with the TV version-- the song is based fairly close to the translation of the original song.
Natsumi-san has the most beautiful voice and I know I'll never be able to capture her elegance or brilliance with my own voice but hopefully the English is well received among fans of the original.
Although I'm older than her, I feel extremely humbled to be singing her song in my own words.
That's all I can really say, I guess...
I feel attached to this song on many levels. It is about life, adventure, love, pain and sacrifice.
At any rate.. please enjoy my lyrics and make sure to support the official release of the anime Spice and Wolf-- and Natsumi in her future endeavors if you feel so inclined to.

Original Artist: Natsumi Kiyoura

English Lyrics by: SoRo

I've been wandering, on this road alone; I'd lost myself long ago...
And my frozen heart has been long to thaw, waiting for the sun...
But the day you came, light had cleared the way- for us to find something new!
And now we can run, under this bright sun; together- discover the way

Of all the unknown songs travelers sing, is there one written for me?
'Cause it sounds so familiar to mine old ears; do you also hear what I hear?

If the world that I had dreamed of exists somewhere in this world then;
Should we search for this great 'somewhere' that the wind will lead us to?
Freezing day-breaks and parched mid-days, through them someway we may find it
In the darkness, and the cold nights- we can keep eachother warm...

Since the day I came, upon such striking eyes; I knew I can't let you go...
Because in those orbs, reflects things unseen; unknown even to the world...
I know many things, only stars can tell; that all we old souls must know
Even though I cry and I feel so sorrowful; t'is me that great fate has bestowed.

Harbors far in the east, tall Western seaside cliffs - still cannot compare...
Deep in lush forests and high in watch towers - There must be something there!
High on the northern hill, watching the harvest moon swaying on the waves - ahh!

If the love that I had dreamed of exists only on this earth then
Shall I live a modest short life and swear never to regret?
Through the cold and snowy weather, we'll be fine if we're together!
Let's continue with eyes open- face the world that's still unseen...

La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la, lai-la, la, la, la...
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la
La, la, lai-la, lai-la, la, la, la...

English Lyrics by: SoRo

Hey, if we only get one chance to live… would it be best to just walk away?
Hey, if there are still things that we need to say… wouldn’t it be wrong to tell a lie?

All the darkest nights end when sun arrives
And always repeat that way…

Hey, even if you forget our promise… could you just make sure you never change?
Hey, and in the end if I reach out to you… could you please just once call out my name?

Looking through the past, from the start till’ now
I had always hoped that these tears would stop falling someday!
Oh~

Faraway, faraway, all the shadows of the past will melt and fade… searching for the light someday!
Faraway, faraway, all the hopes and dreams that we once had cascade… and fall away!

The light and dark, they intersect and it balances out
‘cuz beyond this pain… lies a brighter day.

~~~~~~
NOTE:
Writing these lyrics was very difficult for me but It came to a point where I had to scrap my entire draft and just write from scratch with one main theme in mind while trying to keep true to the original lyrics.
To me, these words seem so sorrowful and full of regret but also hope. They read like a person writing a letter to a loved one who had passed away; so I thought of the English lyrics the same way, like a prayer or a letter to someone who will never be able to respond.
I hope they came out well because I really do feel a connection with this song and it's themes of loss and hope.
Want some advice for writing lyrics?
Don't ask me!!
I don't know what I'm doing!
haha
A young youtuber messaged me a few weeks ago in hopes that I would give her advice in how to write original lyrics.
Unfortunately, I could not help her much because my 'talent' (if I do have any talent at all- ha) starts and ends at translations. I've failed countless times at writing any original music. It seems that for me, I'm only able to take someone elses feelings and words-- and changing them around to suit an English listener.
I did tell her to write a story, though. Every song is a story... some more vague than others- but a good song will have a beginning-middle-end just the same way that a story does.
As for rhyming schemes-- I prefer not to rhyme everything. To me, it often makes lyrics sound juvenile. Just like good poetry doesn't necessarily have to rhyme at all-- neither do lyrics. It is important to make them sound fluid-- to make them mesh with the melody of the music and sound cohesive; but that's all in how it sounds. You can't tell how well lyrics will work until you try singing them.
I often start out with a rough draft--- a direct translation; then write an adaptation slowly-- line by line; reversing some lines so that the timeline of the story in the song makes sense.
It is also important that the song MAKES SENSE. I cannot stress it enough!! XD
I've seen way too many 'fandubs' with lyrics that make no sense in English-- like someone just read the extremely abstract- direct translation from the Japanese version... it's....it's...uhh... y'know?
I'm not a professional in any sense, so don't take my advice to heart-- it's really just my own opinion.
Sing the way you want- write the way you want- do it because you enjoy doing it if for no other reason at all.
"That's all I have to tell you-
That's all I've got to say!"
Creating Harmonies!
I'm still very new to creating lovely ear-tingling harmonies. Alot of the time, my direction turns out sounding flat and I have to try all sorts of things to make the harmony in a song sound like it fits.
I don't like copying the original harmonies from the Japanese versions for some reason...
I prefer 3-part harmonies; which means, 3 tracks of harmonies that meld together to sound more like 1 1/2 tracks~ haha
I've gotten many tips about how to create harmony but I suppose it goes with being partially tone-deaf that I wouldn't be able to figure out what sound is 'flat or sharp and only one half step above or below the melody'. That is just too difficult for me! No thanks! XD
I just posted Motherland the other day~ now I'll post a version with the harmonies louder than the melody so that you can hear how they sound clearly. Some parts don't sound as fluid as others- but I feel like it was a pretty good attempt and really reflects my own personal style.
Enjoy!
Fullmetal Alchemist - Motherland
Song title: Motherland
Anime: Fullmetal Alchemist (ED3)
Japanese Artist: Crystal Kay
English Lyrics by: kolidescope - YT i.d (Christie)
On the day I saw you walk away,
I just smiled and let you go,
Told you I would be waiting....
Everyday believing there's a way,
That you and I would someday meet again.
So I'm here and trying to get by,
Have to trust in love, until my wish comes true.
Until then, all I can do is smile,
While I wait at night, underneath the light,
Of the stars above, But I will be here for you!
I wish I could be your sky forever always watching over you,
Be your comfort, be the shelter from your pain!
And whenever I look up I want to know that
You're looking with me.
That I'm not alone, though you are far away.....
Let this be the place where you'll come home to stay....
EVERYTHING IS BROKEN! YARR!
Both of my computers got the same nasty virus... not sure how! I'm still investigating!
At any rate~ the computer I use to mix died last week. I mean 'died' as in...I booted it up and it beeped at me and said it was dead.
haha
My laptop is still functioning for now, but I can tell there's still something wrong with it. It needs some medicine or a hot water bottle or something!! That's what I take when I'm dying and it usually helps. Then again, I'm only half robot and a computer is 100%, so I guess the same methods wouldn't apply.
As for projects~ everything is on hold for now.
I'm sick, but getting better and hope to get a head start on a few things before the start of May.
Are some people on a break from school?! WHAT?! The break is over?! DAMN!
Hope the break was good to y'all~ and anyone who didn't have a break-- too bad for you! Do something productive! Like... uhh... sitting on the computer and watching season 3 of Roswell on Netflix... -__-, no, wait... that's what I'm doing and it's not productive at all...
Where is my brain today?!
Bye! <3
Sharing hopes, dreams and cake.
I've been 23 for one day and unlike many years past... I actually do feel different. Older, perhaps slightly smarter and more confident - I wanted to share a bit of wisdom from my own personal experience, for anyone who wants it.
If you are unhappy with the person you are; with your job, your life- you are the only person who can change yourself, and you will only change if you *want* change.
You may be depressed or suicidal, even-- but no one
else can magically come by and 'cure' you; you have to decide to get better.
Help is out there but you have to be willing to ask for it and work towards changing yourself and your surroundings.
Alot can happen in a year- if you let it happen.
~
Now, on a less serious note... CAKE!
I wanted to share my birthday cake with everyone- but a photo is the best I can do!
It's just a cheap store bought one but it was delicious! The strawberries were so ripe and sweet- filled with a yummy custard~ enjoy! (my photo... of cake... haha)
As for future updates--
Yes, I plan to update more often than I have been doing in the past few months but I need to get both of my computers reformatted... as they have both been taken over by aliens- I mean- a really nasty worm.
I've got several projects still on the go as well as a free digital single CD which I will post more about next month.
Until then, take care!
Let it Out - Full version
I'd been debating for a long time if I wanted to do a full version of this song; Let it Out - from FMA Brotherhood.
A year ago, I wasn't able to do it. Not necessarily because I'm incompetent but because I was in the wrong frame of mind to write a song about hope for the future.
Perhaps my frame of mind is not quite what it was years ago but it's getting there- hopefully.
This song has alot of meaning to me. Upon reading the Japanese translation, I immediately thought 'it's about growing and letting things change/keeping hope, etc.'
I might not be a hardcore FMA fan but I do understand how hard it is to stay hopeful and work toward something when it seems to be getting further away.
So-- I wrote it based on my own feelings; keeping as close to the translation as I could while still adding my own style to the vocals.
I hope it isn't horrible...
English lyrics written by: SoRo
Original song credited to: Miho Fukuhara
Let it all out, let it all out
You don't have to be afraid of who you are.
Even the strongest, can feel weakness;
deep inside everyone's trembling just the same...
Ohh~
Noone can see their uniqueness.
You have your own voice to follow;
Traveling this road there will be times that you just wanna lose yourself, and you'll cry...
Picking up the broken pieces; you can create something brand new and clean!
So turn your tears into strength- and reach up into the stars!
The light you lose for now will be used to light the way tomorrow!
Even if we get a little lost; Together we can make the stardust of past dreams and all these broken hearts; shine powerfully!
Let it all out, Let it all out
There’s a lot of things that you lack, isn't that right?
But it’s okay to be lacking-
Because I like you even with all of your flaws!
Ohh~
You wanted to see tomorrow- without having to follow through.
Even in times like these its just so hard to keep your barriers down and be strong.
But putting on a brace face hurts you…
And telling lies hurts everyone else you care about!
I was so scared and trembling- but I know I’ll make it through.
You have to know that everything I do is for the best and...
Even if we get a little lost; Together we can make the stardust of past hopes and all these broken dreams; shine powerfully!
And what do you do when all the decisions you’ve made turn out to be wrong?
How can we know what effects our actions will have on the future?
I had thought right from the very start - that I lost that sparkle in my heart…
And I’m thankful for the love you give even though you’re scared too!
Ohh~
So turn your tears into strength- and reach up into the stars...
The light you lose for now will be used to light the way tomorrow!
Even if we get a little lost; Together we can make the stardust of past dreams and all these broken hearts will shine!
Some day we will say good bye but, for now let’s live our lives.
The seasons change and snow will melt but we will keep on growing!
Even if we get a little lost; Together let’s keep walking hand in hand
That’s the one thing that I don’t ever want to change.
(Twist twist twist twist)
(Twist twist twist twist)
(Twist twist twist twist)
(Twist twist twist twist)
Every night, late at night watch TV till' my brain fries.
nothing else to do, so just sit and stare with blank eyes.
ZAPPING through channels; but I don't get any credit...
(All the people 'round the world aren't twisted like you are! How funny)
No interest, no expectations and no clear conscience.
I'll just turn it off, go to sleep and try to forget my existence is so pointless!
I'll straighten up!
Life can twist, twist, twist, twist, twist away at me...
Like a thorn in my side; pull it outta me so I can stop trembling!
Slipping away!
I'm just as twist, twist, twist, twist, twisted as they come...
But as long as you're here, I can change...
(Hopefully you notice I am always here...)
March Updates!
Yes, I'm trying to get things done... it's hard, though! wah!
In this clip:
Some Zetsubou Sensei, Claymore, Bakemonogatari, Durarararara! ra! AND a lil' bit of Spice and Wolf.
BADENTINES DAY
haaahhh... what a TERRIBLE pun.
This month was bad.
There've been a couple of deaths in the family- I was shipped off to my grandma's place to help with my grandfather's funeral arrangements after he passed away suddenly.
now... I realize that's personal information, but I don't really care. I'm not in the mindset to really care if it's too much information for any sensitive readers.
I'm very upset. Disturbed a little, perhaps. Just not doing very well.
And that was my February.
Not so sure when I'll have anything new to show you guys, but perhaps there will be some very soon... perhaps!
I leave you with a cute picture to cheer me up. I mean!! TO CHEER YOU UP!! ...yeah... -___-
