CD REVIEW: MiChi "Up To You"

who is this person? why should I care?
I'd known that MiChi had quite a few popular songs, but up until recently I had no clue who she was!
While listening to 91.8TheFan I had heard the song "Promise" played quite a few times. I liked it-- it's easy to figure out why it's so popular~ so I paid up for a digital version of the album and what I got was a pretty meaty compilation of amazing songs! :o There's a great electronic sound in each and every one of the songs that is unique and cool. Lyrics are fairly simple for the most part, but come across clearly and are fun to sing along with. This album has lyrics in both English and Japanese.
I believe that this album was the first Japanese album I've listened to that had SWEAR WORDS in it! XD Not that it's a big deal; since they have to do with the subject matter and are not overused...

CD REVIEW: Utada 'Heart Station'

album: Utada Hikaru "Heart Station"

who is this person? why should I care?
If you are on MY blog and have no idea who Utada is... you must be new. -___-
"Hikki" has been referred to as the "Britney Spears of Japan" - in that she is just that BIG- not that she's, you know... a hot mess... because as far as I can tell, she is quite the opposite.
ANYWAYS-- THE MUSIC! To anyone who knows very little about Japanese pop music, they would probably know Utada best for the themesongs to Kingdom Hearts 1&2; in both English and Japanese. Her music is catchy, poetic and filled with emotion. As far as her albums go, I would say "Heart Station" is one of her lighter, more fun collections. I love every single track-- there is no sense of hit or miss at all!
The only thing I wish this album had was a bit more colour in the artwork. Honestly... just some colour. Usually Hikki does not fail to produce some interesting album artwork.

Hello there, my lovelies!
I've decided to give shout-outs and do some reviews from time to time~ because I love music and movies SO FREAKIN' MUCH, and am currently on hiatus from recording anything myself, this will have to tide y'all over for now. Sorry!

I always highly recommend buying the CD either online, or ordering it in store- over downloading or 'sharing' it with friends. Honestly... if you like an artist and want to hear more music, the only way you can help them to further their careers and help them keep on producing singles is by purchasing their work to let them know you love 'em!
With that said... I prefer buying the CD over purchasing mp3's online.
Why? Personal preference, I guess... there's something special about holding the CD/Record in your hands, flipping through the booklet... smelling that new music smell... ahhh~!!

This youtube sensation is known best for writing lyrics to some of your favourite videogame melodies such as: Doctor Mario, Tetris, Zelda and Mega Man (as well as SOO many others)
If you are a videogame fanatic- or even just played a few of the 'classics' as a kid, I guarantee you'll get some laughs out of the cleverly worded lyrics, hum along and remonise the hours upon hours you played years ago; when you still wet your bed. Don't worry... he won't tell!
I was lucky enough to see brentalfloss live in Toronto not too long ago~ the show was alot of fun and had me laughing the entire time!

Heroes - Inspiration...

Hey, guys~

I think about where my inspiration comes from every day. Any time I get stuck and can't seem to do anything worth posting- I take a break and think about why I'm doing what I'm doing.
I lost my inspiration for a long time. It was a really hard thing to get it back... but after experimenting, trying new things and just having fun ant not thinking seriously at all; it eventually came back to me.

There is natural talent, and then learned skill - two things that I believe any actor/actress must possess. With time, one's learned skills grow and expand but without natural talent; much more time and effort must be put into every task.
When I was much younger and just starting out, I found that inspiration came to me SO easily. I didn't even have to think about it! These days though, I often have to sit down and think and research before I feel that I can do it.

Enough whining, though!! XD
Here are a few of my own personal heroes/sources of inspiration:

Judy Garland

When I think of classic Judy Garland; of course it's got to be the Wizard of Oz! As an actress/singer- Judy is one of my many 'older' heroes. My grandma had taught me opera and classical voice as a child and one of the first songs I learned was "Get Happy"
I just can't do it like Judy could, though~
I really feel like I was born in the wrong era, sometimes. haha




Mona Marshall

As far as voice actresses/personalities go- I look up to Mona in pretty much every aspect XD
I mean... she did Digimon AND Southpark! haha
I remember watching Southpark for the first time as a kid and thinking; "hey! she sounds like Izzy!"
When I'd first started out, my voice hadn't matured yet. I could've passed for young boys quite easily-- but now it just doesn't sound natural anymore. I would give almost anything to sound like Mona~ <3
She is just too awesome. One of my favourite voices of all time.


Wendee Lee

Okay... Wendee(Wendy) has done SO much work in so many games/shows that she is like an all purpose go-to as far as voiceovers go. With such a wide range and so much experience it's no wonder she does so much!
My range is similar, but I'm just no match... give me another 10 years and maybe I'll be half as amazing as she is.


I'll leave it here for now-- there are so many people I could credit for giving me inspiration through the years; and I'll try my best to get around to them sooner or later.
Anyone who is an artist and puts all of their heart into their work and believes in themself as a person is a hero to me.
Just keep trying your hardest! That is all you can really do in life.

Sometimes shit just piles up and there's not a whole lot you can do about it except go away for awhile and try to deal with it.

I was having a really hard time with alot of stupid stuff. With life, really.
I guess I finally realized that sometimes things happen that you don't count on- and you have to find a way to work around it. I'm not very good at working around things...

I'd been in a relationship with someone for a very long time. He had become my security blanket/my best friend/ the only person I trusted... and when the relationship ended suddenly, I didn't know what to do with myself. That's how my problems started.
I should say to everyone-- if you are feeling lonely and sad and desperate- talk to someone about it. It's not good to keep everything inside, because it will all just get alot worse.

I've also been dealing with alot of health issues lately. Being in and out of the hospitals really isn't fun at all. I've got digestion problems and blood/immune system faults that cause me to be sick often. It's my own responsibility to keep ontop of things, but the past year of my life had been so hectic that I just stopped paying attention and ended up getting really sick.

I don't want anyone to feel sorry for me though.
I've been trying my best lately to get better and to heal mentally as well as physically.
Like I said... sometimes you just need to get away for awhile.
I got away from the internet because I was feeling rejected- but at one point or another; everyone will get rejected from something or another. It's best to try not to linger on the past and instead- focus on the present and working forward.

So... I was home this whole year, dealing with stuff.
I'm okay, I'm healthy now and I would like to get back to my... online life. XD

It'll take me awhile to get things organized again- and I would like to keep my promises from now on, too! No more doing things half-assed, either! >D
